Sonic Traces

Sonic Traces brought together a diverse group of artists, whose practices converge through the medium of drawing, to create a large scale drawing in response to a constantly evolving soundscape. The 4 hour sound piece is a collage of modified field recordings and experimental electronic music selected for its textural sonic qualities. Participating artists had free reign to interpret the sounds they heard by translating their sensory experiences of the sound into marks on paper.

Visitors were welcome to enter the space to experience the creation of the drawing as it developed, and to participate in the drawing if they wished.

Participating drawing artists were Kimbal Bumstead, Donna Taylor, Nichola Lee, Mandi Grant, Jo Yeats, Matilde Tomat, Richard Kitchen, and many others who joined in with the drawing during the day
