Cara Rumblings EP released!
This EP contains two tracks made entirely from samples that I recorded in and around the building I live in, a warehouse in North London. I wanted to capture the sonic landscape of the building – the sounds of daily life, objects, appliances, instruments and creatures, as well as the creaks, cracks and hums of the building itself.
The starting point for this project came from the rumbling screeching sound I could hear every few minutes if I pressed my ear to the arm of the sofa. It turns out that Victoria Line runs directly under the building, and if you listen closely, you can hear the trains trundling along their rails resonating up through the reinforced concrete walls. Since noticing that sound, it got me thinking about what other details in my sonic environment shape my experience of living here…
